Your account
Delete your account.
Close your Egen Academy or Egen Academy Team account and remove the personal information we hold. You can do it in the app, or ask us to do it for you without installing anything.
Effective 9 August 2026 · Last revised 9 August 2026
1. Which account this is about
This page covers the two Elitesgen Academy mobile apps and the account you use to sign in to them and to egenacademy.com:
- Egen Academy, for learners and their parents or guardians (
com.egenacademy.family). - Egen Academy Team, for instructors and coordinators (
com.egenacademy.team).
Both are published by Elitesgen Egen Limited (RC 8151916), of Magodo, Lagos, Nigeria, trading as Elitesgen Academy, which is the company that holds the account and acts on the request described below.
2. Delete it yourself in the app
The fastest route, and the one that needs nobody's help:
- Open the app and sign in.
- Tap Menu in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Privacy & Data.
- Under Your rights, tap Delete my account.
- Read what happens. Then confirm it is you, using your password or a six-digit code we email to the address on the account, whichever the screen offers you.
- Tap Delete my account, then confirm on the final prompt by tapping Delete permanently.
Both apps work exactly the same way here, and staff accounts can be closed by the same route.
We ask you to confirm your identity at that point so a lost or stolen phone cannot close your account. There is a limit on how many times an hour that can be attempted.
The deletion happens immediately. You are signed out on every device straight away, and there is no waiting period during which you could change your mind, and no way for us to restore the account afterwards.
3. Ask us to delete it, without the app
You do not need to install anything to have your account deleted. If you cannot sign in, no longer have the app, or would simply rather we did it, email us.
Send a message to support@egenacademy.com with the subject Account deletion request, from the email address on the account so we can confirm it is you. Tell us which app you used.
If you cannot email from that address, write from any address and we will ask you a few questions to confirm the account is yours. We do this to stop someone else closing your account.
We action these requests within 30 days, and normally much sooner. We will confirm by email when it is done.
4. What is deleted
When your account is deleted:
- Your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, salutation, home address and biography are erased.
- Your profile photo and cover photo are removed from your account, so they are no longer shown anywhere or reachable through the app.
- Your password is destroyed and cannot be recovered.
- You are signed out on every device immediately, and existing sessions stop working.
- Our copy of any saved payment card is deleted, and we ask Paystack to revoke the card token as well.
- Your registered device is removed, so notifications stop.
- Your notification preferences, saved carts, wishlists, saved addresses, saved views and any pending invitations are deleted outright.
- Any sign-in link to Google or Apple is removed.
- Your email address is released, so it can be used to sign up again later.
Your contact details are also removed from the related records that carried a copy of them, including your learner or parent profile, any facility membership, any organisation membership and our contact records.
Two honest footnotes on that list. The image files behind your profile and cover photos are removed from your account but are not separately wiped from the storage service that held them. And the request to Paystack to revoke a saved card is made after your account has already been deleted, so if that request fails your account is still gone but the card token may survive at Paystack. If it matters to you, tell us and we will confirm it, or remove the card in the app before you delete the account.
5. What is kept, and why
This is not a total erasure
Some records survive, without your name on them. We would rather say so here than let you find out later.
- Your account itself is not deleted from our database, it is emptied. What is left is a blank marker with no name, no email address and no contact details, which the records below still point at so that they do not break.
- Enrolment, attendance, assessment and certificate history stays, with your name and contact details taken off it. Programs need to know a session ran and was attended, and a certificate we issued has to remain verifiable.
- Payment, order and invoice records stay for six years, because Nigerian tax and accounting law requires us to keep them. The delivery address on a past order stays as part of that record.
- Our security audit log stays. It exists to record who did what, including this deletion, and would be worthless if it could be erased by the person it records.
- Employment records for staff stay for the period employment law requires.
- Messages you already sent to another person stay in that conversation, the same way an email you sent stays in the recipient's inbox. Our record that we sent you a particular email or SMS also stays, with your address removed from it.
- Identity check records, where any were carried out, stay as an audit trail. This is deliberate: an identity check is a thing we did and has to remain auditable. What is released is the identity number we held, so it can be used to register again.
- Profiles of children in your care are not deleted with your account. Ask us and we will remove them.
None of these are used to rebuild your profile or to contact you again.
We keep the records that make up your account and your learners' history for as long as the account is open, and for as long as we need them to deliver the service. We do not run a fixed countdown on enrolment, attendance, assessment or certificate records: they are what a program is, and a certificate has to stay verifiable. Closing your account is what removes your personal details from those records, and the delete account page sets out exactly what that reaches and what it does not.
Separately from all of that, a few things are deleted on a timer whether you close your account or not:
- Password reset links, after 30 days. Emailed one-time codes, after a day.
- The queue rows that record us sending you an email or an SMS, after 7 days once the message has gone. A message that failed for good is kept instead, so we can find out why.
- Files uploaded but never attached to the record they belonged to: after 24 hours if the upload never finished, or after 7 days if it finished but the record it was meant for was still waiting to sync from someone's phone. For the incident and routine logs our staff file, both our record of the file and the stored file itself are deleted. A file that did get attached is never swept, because at that point it is part of the safety record.
- The technical rows that log an upload happening, after 48 hours.
- Where messaging is switched on, the note of when an account was last active, after 60 days.
- An account that was created and then never used, with no learner, no enrolment and no connection to anyone else, is deactivated after 30 days. Deactivated, not deleted: it stops working, and it stays on record.
6. When we cannot delete it yet
There are three situations where the app will stop and explain what needs to happen first. Each one is shown with what to do about it, and support can resolve all three.
- There is a paid enrolment that is still running, either yours or one you paid for on behalf of a learner in your care. We have to keep the payment record while the course is live. Ask support to withdraw or complete the enrolment first.
- You are the only guardian for a child profile that has no login of its own. Deleting you would leave that child unreachable, so add a second guardian or ask support to transfer them first.
- You are the last remaining administrator for an organisation. Someone else needs administrator access before you can go.
If your account has neither a password nor an email address on file, we cannot confirm the request inside the app. Email us and we will close it for you.
7. Deleting some of your data, but keeping your account
You do not have to close your account to remove particular information. In the app you can change or clear your profile photo and cover photo, your home address, your emergency contact, and any medical notes held for a learner in your care. You can also turn off notifications, which removes your device registration.
For anything you cannot change yourself, email support@egenacademy.com and describe what you would like removed.
The privacy policy sets out your other rights, including asking for a copy of what we hold.
8. Deleting a child's information
A parent or guardian can remove a child in their care. If the child has no login of their own, ask support to remove the profile. If the child has their own login, that account can be deleted the same way as any other, by you or by them.
Deleting your own account does not automatically delete a child who has their own login. Tell us if you want both closed.
9. Staff accounts
An instructor or coordinator account on Egen Academy Team is created and closed by the academy rather than claimed by you, so ask your coordinator to remove your access, or email support@egenacademy.com from the address on your account. The in-app delete works for staff too, with the same effect described above.
Records you created while working, such as attendance registers, assessments and incident reports, belong to the academy as its own operational and safety records and are retained. So are employment records we must keep by law.
10. Questions
Email support@egenacademy.com and a person will answer. If you want to understand what we hold before deciding, read the privacy policy first.
